Eating is a natural occurrence, which is lucky because food is everything. After falling down an insta-rabbit hole of #foodporn, we drew up some figures as to how and where foodora customers eat. From 100 photos assessed, here’s what we found out about how people order and instagram simultaneously.
Reserve all surprise for later in the exercise: it probably won’t shock you to discover that 72% of our customers eat at the table, like civilised, respectable humans.
44% of those eating at the table are using their living room or coffee table. Additionally, 3% eat on the floor, which we have ultimate respect for.
While almost 3 out of 4 customers eat at the table, 57% of them still eat directly out of the packaging. Saves doing the dishes, which is the beauty of ordering, right?
9% of food-snappers (including everyone at our office) have a preference for eating in bed.
If we add the people eating from their couch, 13% like to eat in comfort. A further 1% order food to their hospital bed (excellent).
According to instagram, 7% order to work, although we suppose less people snap their food from the desk. On top of that, the majority of those ordering to work eat in front of their computer.
Combine that with those eating in front of their computer at home and you’ve got 14% eating with the screen. 4% watch TV, 1% study while eating, and 2% use food time as an opportunity to browse check out the IKEA catalogue!
Finally, 5% have a preference for eating outside, doing as Mother Nature intended: ordering to the balcony.
